I used to buy a newspaper regularly, up to, say, three years ago. Now, it would be occasional. Most of my news is gathered online or via radio or television. I don't consider myself any less informed than your average newspapers reader. Newspapers are slow and clunky and can't keep up with the pace of today's news gathering and distribution. In New Zealand, where I am writing from, the online version of the New Zealand Herald is more popular than their printed version. Not sure that Murdoch will win by charging for news -- people will get their news for free. Long live the revolution!

If anybody has any questions about the validity of the press advocating liberalism just read Eugene Robinson's article in today's Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/27/AR2009082703257_pf.html I have no problem with individuals lionizing Mr. Kennedy but Eugene Robinson is supposed to be a journalist not a cheerleader. I remember Rush talking about what journalists said motivated them to go into Journalism. "I want to make a difference" was a common refrain. Too bad it wasn't I want to make sure the facts are reported correctly. Mr. Robinson made a differerence today. Judging from the comments to his article he has reduced the Post's circulation!
