SIDESWIPE – Anticipating Stephen Strasburg’s future renown, baseball’s Hall of Fame has requested an artifact from the Washington Nationals 5-2 victory against the Pittsburg Pirates on Tuesday evening.  Ninety-four pitches, fourteen strikeouts, and seven dominant innings of work were enough to convince the Hall that Strasburg’s Major League debut is a precursor to a special career.  Perhaps they should go one step further and induct the starting pitcher into the Hall of Fame right away.   After all, if a president can be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after nine months in office, why can’t a baseball player receive comparable recognition after just one game?

    It will be interesting to see his stats at the end of the season. There is a lot of pressure on him. Congratulations to Japan on the victory over Cameroon in the World Cup… That was a “must win” game and sets up an exciting final set of group games. Thanks for the comment!
